Hyde Park Portrait Photography – Playing in the Long Grass

It’s been almost impossible for me to choose a Just One from this, my sixth photo shoot with Shareefah and her amazing family – there are just so many pictures that I love. I keep coming back to this one though, from our wonderful family photography session in Hyde Park recently.

When I first met Jude she was a toddler and now she is an intelligent, interesting and beautiful young lady, still full of fun and laughter but with an incredible style and poise as she heads towards her teenage years.

Each year we have so much fun on our sessions and this year was no exception. Exploring Hyde Park we found lots of great new locations that I hadn’t photographed in before and the light was perfect, giving us a lovely soft glow without harsh shadows. We were even luckier that the rain held off until right at the end of our session, just perfect.

In this picture we were playing with the grass seeds and I just love how they create a feeling akin to snow as they float down, the tiny white specks being echoed by the light through the trees in the background a play of light and shadow that makes for a beautiful picture.

I love the feel of movement, the blur of Jude’s hand as she throws so quickly and the swing of her hair as we realize she is spinning around. This image is part of a sequence but also works so well on its own. I hope you like it as much as I do, today’s Just One from my recent family photography session in Hyde Park.
