I often visit London Fields, Victoria Park, Clissold Park and other wonderful greenspaces in Hackney as well as many lovely flats and houses to take newborn and baby photographs. I hope that by showing you some images today and explaining about how I work you will choose me to photograph your family.

My style of newborn and baby photography is based around the idea of creating images that your children will love when they are adults just as much as you love the images now. I work in timeless black and white so that the images aren’t dated by fading colours and with a natural relaxed approach so that the moments recorded are real moments rather than elaborate creations using costumes and props. I want your child to look at the pictures as an adult and see the look of love on your faces as you look down at them. I want the images to make you laugh as you pass them hanging on the wall each day and remember the fun activities you did with your little one, the songs you sung to get them to sleep, the way they loved to be rocked in a particular chair or never let go of a much loved toy. The images are about memories for you, and for them, and creating images that you will love for many years to come.

I like to incorporate your home into your photo shoot and I tend to do part of the photo shoot indoors whatever the weather as home is where the heart is and where so many memories are made. Outside I love to use the environment to enhance creative compositions giving your newborn baby photography in Hackney a sense of place – Hackney is such a great area, it’s lovely to include it in your images.

I am fascinated by light and love to use light creatively in your pictures to ensure that images are striking and graphic and exceed your expectations.

I have been a professional family photographer since 2003 and in that time I’ve built a wonderful business specialising in newborn, baby, and family photography. I’m lucky as I love it just as much now as I did when I started, and I always feel it’s a huge privilege to be invited into my clients homes to document their families. Even better is when clients invite me back again and again and I’m lucky to have been photographing some families for many years watching their children grow and creating a visual document for them in pictures. Newborn and baby photography sessions are based around you and your family – we work around your routines; naps happen as required and the sessions are always child led. I find that approaching things this way means that everyone is happy and relaxed, and we all have a brilliant time for our newbon and baby photography session in Hackney E8.

I like to arrive nice and early straight after breakfast to get everyone at their best and brightest. Having some time before your baby’s mid-morning nap as well as afterwards also means we have flexibility to take in more than one location on your photo shoot – often doing half the session indoors in your hackney home and half outside at one of the wonderful parks like Victoria Park, Clissold Park or London fields. Sessions tend to last a morning, but I only do one photo shoot in a day so it’s no problem if your newborn decides to have a four-hour feed in the middle of the photo shoot, it’s all really relaxed.

If you have older children, then it’s always wonderful to include them in the photo shoot and I definitely feel the more the marrier when it comes to family members. All the children, all the pets, it all makes for a really fun set of images.

With older children I always make sure they have their moment in the spotlight, particularly on newborn sessions as it can be an overwhelming time for little ones when their new brother or sister arrives. Approaching the situation sensitively, with a sense of humour, and infinite patience ensures we get wonderful images and, most importantly, everyone has a brilliant time.

If your older children have particular hobbies and interests, we can include them in the photo shoot too, the idea is to create a wonderful visual record of this time in your family’s life for you all to look back on.

After your photo shoot I’ll process the pictures and then my colleague will visit you to show you the pictures – it’s usually around 70 images from a photo shoot which will be a fantastic variety of family shots, individual portraits, and images of everyone interacting and having fun together.

The viewing session is designed to make your life easier taking place in your home at a time that suits you. We’ll show you some ideas, and we’ll have talked about some of your thoughts during the session, and then we can go from there.

We offer stunning albums, incredible museum quality fine art prints and frames as well as other wall art options and, of course, the digital files. Together we can work out the perfect options for you and at your viewing it will be easy to measure walls and work out the right frame moulding for your home as you will have everything there at hand.
