Speaking at Park Cameras imaging festival 2018

Speaking for Canon as part of the Park Cameras imaging festival 2018

I’m thrilled to announce that on Saturday 16th June I will be giving my talk ‘Great Family Photos and How to Take Them’ as part of the Park Cameras Festival at their store in Burgess Hill.

This is the same talk that I gave at the Photography Show this year when I presented my work on the Canon Live Stage.  It was incredibly well received and so I’m very pleased to be giving it another airing.

For those of you who didn’t make it to the Photography Show this would be a perfect opportunity to hear me talk about my work and also, and most importantly, about how to improve your own pictures.

I will be talking about what I believe makes a great family photograph and why I think they are so important.  I’ll be drawing on my own experiences with the pictures that my dad took of my brothers and I and how I find those pictures to be both inspiring and comforting – they show me where I have come from and who I am.

I’ll be looking at what I consider to be the three main types of pictures that I take as a family photographer – group shots, individual portraits, and the storytelling images that make up so much of my work.

We will look at what each type of picture brings to the table, how they overlap and why I think they are all important.

I’ll also be looking at techniques for taking pictures both outdoors and also inside which is where we spend so much of our time (and where most family photographers will have spent the first third of the year as the rain pelted down outside).  It’s great to feel confident photographing indoors as well as out and I’ll offer tips to help you improve in this area.

I’m on at 9.15 in the morning, bright and early and armed with coffee.

I do hope to see lots of you there.  For more information and details of tickets then please visit the Park Cameras website.
