Family Photography at Morden Hall in South London
It has been such a busy year for family photo shoots and I was thrilled to travel to south west London recently to photograph this delightful little girl.
I had first met the family last autumn when we spent a wonderful morning in Clapham taking family and baby photographs where her delightful smile and joyful personality made it one of my favourite photo shoots of 2024. I was looking forward to seeing the family again and our session this year was fantastic. We spent a brilliant morning together taking family photos, pictures that I know will bring the family joy for many years to come.
Exploring Morden Hall
We decided to visit Morden Hall Park for our family photos this year. It is fun to explore new places and it has been a favourite with this little one and her nanny over the summer. I had never been and so it was an exciting adventure. It is always good to go to new places. I find the variety of new locations sparks creativity and I love the fast assessments that must be made for location light and of course the whims of a toddler who will always take things in unexpected directions.
Exploring the Fields at Morden Hall
We started off by exploring some of the beautiful fields in Morden Hall, playing with a football and then following the paths from puddle to puddle to find the best spots for splashing. I was glad I had my waterproof trousers on as it made it much easier to get low for interesting angles and glorious reflections.
Morden Hall Wetlands Adventure
We then headed into Morden Hall wetlands which was a beautiful boardwalk through the marshes. We did not see much in the way of birds, but the paths created lovely leading lines and the bright sunlight kept me busy working with backlighting and shadows to create beautiful images.
From here we searched for the playground which was a lovely shady spot for a final bit of play before we needed to head home for a snack.
On the way we found a great spot for hide and seek, one of my favourite activities for a family photo shoot and one that is guaranteed to produce happy images. This little girl’s smile lit up the woodland glade and it makes me so happy looking at these pictures.
Bubbles in the Garden After Our Morden Hall Family Photography Session
Once home it was time for a snack to get a final blast of energy before naptime awaited. It is tiring work being a model and family photo shoots, like any great day out, involve a lot of running around.
The family had purchased an amazing bubble machine and soon the garden was filled with bubbles glinting in the sunlight. We had an amazing time playing amongst them, trying to catch them and dancing to a playlist of wonderful children’s songs. I was humming the tunes for days.
It was a tired and happy baby who headed for a nap and a tired and happy photographer who slept on the tube home. It was such a fun photo shoot with such lovely people and I hope you have enjoyed looking at the pictures today.
