Family Photography in Mill Hill
Mill Hill Family Photo Shoot
It is always a joy to see regular clients and I was particularly excited for this session, my sixth with this lovely family, as they had recently moved house and so we were celebrating with family photography in Mill Hill at their new home.
Our session was scheduled for just before Christmas and it was lovely to visit when the decorations were up and everyone was feeling very festive. Their beautiful Mill Hill home was the perfect location for our family photo shoot and playing indoors and in the garden gave us lots of opportunities for portraits and family photos which we will add to the growing document we are creating of the girls’ childhoods.
Our images will be printed in a beautiful album to join the growing collection, one from each year, and we will add some new frames for the wall, hanging the gallery of images from each of our family photo shoots from 2020 onwards. It is such a joy for me to see these galleries of framed prints grow as we share so many lovely days together.
Christmas cookies
It is lovely to have a few activities up our sleeves when planning an at home family portrait session and with Christmas around the corner at this point it made sense to keep some of them seasonal.
Icing cookies is always so much fun and a brilliant excuse to have a tasty gingerbread snack or two. I enjoyed using the icing as a dip to create some snow topped Christmas trees which were quickly devoured as I took pictures.
The girls had a brilliant time and I love these memories of a quiet activity.
Games and other indoor fun
We also played some games including the amazing Telestrations which I had not played before and which I immediately ordered as a Christmas present for my niece and nephew. Ticking all my good game boxes it was easy to learn, quick to play, full of laughter and without any opportunities for sibling tantrums, unlike monopoly or risk which in my childhood memories always ended with someone in tears. I would highly recommend Telestrations both as a game and as an activity for a photo shoot.
Games, playing the piano, adding decorations to the tree. We had a lovely time indoors taking family photographs in Mill Hill.
Garden games on family photo shoot in Mill Hill
Dodging the December rain we also managed to spend some lovely time in the garden on our family photo shoot in Mill Hill and that was so much fun. The space was massive and full of the kinds of little areas which make a childhood garden such fun, a secret passage, a vegetable patch, a massive hill to run down, a snuggling bench, walls to leap off. The possibilities were endless and that is before the pool which I cannot wait to photograph this summer.
Leaf throwing on our Mill Hill family photo shoot
As discussion about leaf blowers and rakes went on among the adults, oh middle age, how you crept up on me, we realised that of course the best thing to do with leaves is not to tidy them up but instead to throw them up in the air.
Joyful laughter ensued as we had a fabulous time creating a rain of leaves which produced happy faces and brilliant photos in equal measure.
