Summer family photo shoot in Richmond and Chiswick
Family fun with grandparents in West London
I always look forward to my annual family photo shoot with these delightful children. I first met them when they were only days old, back in 2017. Since then we’ve had a yearly photo shoot where I get to record their lives and enjoy a day filled with fun and laughter.
Each year has got better and better as the girls grow up; they are so fun to be around. Both girls have a fantastic sense of humour and that wonderful ability to see joy in everything. We always have such a great time.
This year, as on previous sessions, we’ve been joined by their grandparents which has added a wonderful extra dimension to the photo shoot. These are moments to be treasured and pictures that will remind everyone, over the years, of the amazing relationships between all family members.
Baking biscuits to fuel the day
Arriving early at the family home the girls were keen to make some cookies to take with us on our adventure. So, while drinking the ever-essential cup of coffee after a long journey across London, I got my camera out. I love it when we dive straight into an activity and the girls faces as they baked with their beloved grandmother are an absolute delight. The cookies were great too, the perfect breakfast food.
A trip to Richmond Park
From home we headed out to Richmond park. Arriving bright and early we had the park to ourselves, and we headed off into the woods to find places for pictures and for play.
Richmond is an amazing park and one that I always enjoy using as a location for family photos. It’s always a big adventure and I love finding new spots and opportunities for pictures. We found some lovely shady places for some games.
Hide and Seek
In a park that is full of bracken then a game of hide and seek always makes for a fun activity. I have so many memories of hiding under ferns as a child and the girls loved sneaking into the undergrowth ready to jump out at their parents. Having a dog with us of course meant the parents could cheat a little as our furry friend wanted to find their playmates and so often led us straight to the hiding girls.
Fields of grass
From the depths of woodland we found some more open areas, perfect for playing and also, much to everyone’s delight a café selling sandwiches, it’s hungry work having your picture taken! A bite of lunch and then off to a new location to meet the second set of grandparents.
Our final spot for family photos was an incredibly playground, a real hidden gem in Chiswick that I’d not been to before – and I consider myself to have an excellent knowledge of London playgrounds. It was amazing and a place I’ll definitely return to.
We had a wonderful time, playing on the swings, climbing the scramble nets and laughing all the way. The zip line was a definite favourite for kids and photographer alike.
