Fun Family Photos on your London Vacation

It’s always such a pleasure to meet families who are visiting London, to spend a morning with them and explore together while taking family photos. I was thrilled when Dan booked me for a session near his Park Lane hotel and I had a fantastic time photographing his energetic and hilarious children.

We met at the hotel and then headed out into Hyde Park. The children were so excited running around and exploring and mesmerised by the squirrels, an animal they don’t have at home. We spent a happy time heading across the park and down towards Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guard. I’ve lived in London for forty years and, I hate to admit it, but that was the first time I’d ever gone to see it. I was stunned by the crowds on a blustery April morning outside of the school holidays.

It’s wonderful to show others the sights and sounds of my city and I loved watching the children’s excitement as the guards came by either on horses or marching in formation. It’s quite a spectacle even if, from our vantage point, we couldn’t see the full event. While we were waiting there were so many opportunities for pictures as the children played and chatted together.

My favourite shot from the day though was taken in the park. This portrait of the children together seems to sum up their personalities so well. They were so full of fun, so full of energy and our London vacation family photo shoot was laughter from start to finish.

You can feel the energy here as the girls pick up their younger brother, I love how his foot shoots out of the picture but also how relaxed he looks, one knee at rest over the other as if he was casually resting on a sun lounger rather than being held by his sisters. Those matching smiles say it all – siblings, friends, family – they are all three and how lucky to have such a wonderful bond between them and how fun to be sharing their London adventure together and how wonderful that it has been recorded in fun family photos of their London vacation.
