Just One – children’s portrait photography in Kent
Today’s ‘Just One’ preview image is from my second photo shoot with Erin and her lovely family in Kent. Erin has grown so much since I last visited the family at their preview home in 18 months ago – during our first family shoot last year (which you can see some pictures from on the blog here), Erin was sitting-up, laughing and smiling, but not moving as yet. Now she is running, running, and running some more! Sometimes Erin would sit for the briefest of moments before running around again and still with the most wonderful, infectious grin. It’s the kind of smile that makes you smile just to see it – I hope this blog post will bring a smile to your face, I’m smiling as I write it.
We had a lovely morning, mostly spent playing in the garden although coming indoors briefly for cake and to avoid one of the short, sharp showers that seem to be a feature this summer.
I love this picture from when we had decided to go outside into the garden for the second time. Erin had asked us to bring out the chairs (as only a two year old can instruct, ‘Daddy bring chairs, daddy get elephant, Daddy take me to the moon!’) and we gladly did so, thinking this might give us an opportunity for a brief moment when Erin might sit still. And she did – we arranged the chairs in the shade (as a photographer, I do like to move the games into the best light) and Erin carefully arranged her doll and Hector the Horse, and sat down to explain about her tea party.
I love how Erin is looking at her parents and grins her wonderful grin, happy to be there but – as you can see by the hand on the chair and the feet ready to push up – she’s just about to jump up and run around some more. It’s a picture that, to me, sums up our morning of smiles and laughter; of running around and having fun playing with Erin and her toys. It’s an image that will bring back so many memories for her and her parents as she gets older, with Hector the Horse, Erin’s doll and even the tea service; toys which are played with day-in, day-out and are such a part of Erin’s childhood. It’s lovely to capture these details in beautiful photographic portraits that the family will enjoy for years to come.
I love this picture and hope you will like it as much as I do, today’s ‘Just One’ preview from our recent children’s and family photography session in Kent.
