Just One – children’s portraits in Holland Park, West London
I love this shot from my recent shoot with Sabrina and her beautiful family in Holland Park, one of my favourite locations for family and children’s photography sessions.
I woke up to thunder and lightening on the morning of our shoot but luckily for us, by the time I arrived in West London the weather had settled down, leaving lovely soft light and a real feeling of freshness in the air, perfect weather for family portraits.
We headed to Holland Park for our photo shoot as it’s such a great location and a place that the children love to play (it also has one of the best playgrounds in London and I’ll share some shots from there in the full blog post very soon). We had a great time playing games and exploring, and the girls were such fun – so full of laughter and enjoying playing with their parents, the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning.
I loved today’s ‘Just One’ preview image as soon as I downloaded my pictures. I love the expressions on the girls’ faces, with such lovely relaxed laughter as they stood on the gate watching their parents do what I imagine must have been a truly spectacular dance! I love the composition of the shot, with plenty of space and a bit of foliage at the top to anchor the picture. I love using the environment in this way in my pictures, adding compositional elements to make an image stronger and more interesting.
I’m thrilled with this image from our family photography session in Holland Park and I hope you like it, too.
