Just One – Joseph

Today’s ‘Just One’ image is from a recent family photography session in Kensington, West London.

This image caught my eye as I began editing the pictures. Joseph and his dad had a chess board set-up in Joseph’s homework room and as soon as I spotted it, I knew it would be a wonderful place for a picture with beautiful light from a large window and such a peaceful setting.

Images like this are often some of my favourites from a photo shoot: I love quiet moments of interaction and concentration. My role as a photographer here is simply that of observer and recorder, capturing this moment in a beautiful image that will be treasured and bring back memories of many chess games over many years.

It’s everything I think a family photograph should be – a moment of bonding photographed in a beautiful manner. I hope you like it.
