Just One – family photography on Wimbledon Common
I’ve been photographing Linda and her lovely family since 2006, and I always look forward to our annual photo session – it’s always a pleasure to see how the children are growing, hear what they are up to at school (and what they are reading, I do love how so many of the books I loved as a child are still popular today) and about their wonderful summer holidays which are always full of adventures and tales of high hilarity. I always laugh so much on our photo shoots.
This year, we decided to visit Wimbledon Common and Cannizaro House for our session. I love visiting both places due to their beauty and variety, making them brilliant locations for family photography. It was also the children’s first visit to Wimbledon Common and they loved being able to run around in the woods. For those of you who haven’t visited, it’s a brilliant spot for a day out with acres of mature woodland and a very good cafe for the essential cup of coffee and mid-morning sausage roll.
The image I have chosen for my ‘Just One’ preview today was from about half way through our session. I love how the children are all sitting on the fallen tree trunk, laughing at their parents behind me and with so much personality on display in the different poses they have taken.
I also love how the children really stand out in the picture with the use of a shallow depth of field, but how the background is still in evidence locating the picture within the woodland and giving it a lovely sense of depth. The light worked brilliantly, too – it’s soft and flattering, which perfect for this type of photograph.
I look forward to sharing some more pictures from our family photography session in Wimbledon on the blog soon, including lots of pictures of tree climbing, balancing on logs, playing frizbee and laughing, so much laughing.
I hope you will check back soon to see an extended selection of fun-filled, relaxed family pictures. If you would like to arrange your own family photography session in Wimbledon or elsewhere in London, please contact us – we would be delighted to hear from you.
