Mother and Daughter Portrait in Green Park – Just One

It really felt as if spring had sprung for this wonderful portrait session in London’s fabulous Green Park. I had been contacted by the Ritz Hotel to book a session for one of their guests during their stay in London and I was thrilled when the day dawned bright and clear for our photo shoot. The daffodils had just come out in the park and we headed out to make the best of the beautiful spring day.

I photograph a lot of families who are visiting London and want pictures to record their holidays and it’s always great fun. I’m happy taking photographs in hotels and apartments and, of course, out and about in some of our fabulous parks and gardens. London is a brilliant place for family photography.

We spent a wonderful morning together, initially photographing in the suite at the Ritz before exploring Green Park and making use of the beautiful fields of daffodils. It’s one of the things I love most about spring – the flowers are coming into bloom, the fresh leaves are on the trees and the world feels full of possibilities as we think about the year ahead and all the adventures it will bring.

I immediately fell in love with this photograph, as I love the feeling of connection. The deck chairs in Green Park made a fabulous prop for this mother and daughter portrait but it is the expressions, those beautiful smiles as they look at each other, and, most of all the hands with the fabulous light playing across the fingers which really make this picture stand out to me and made me choose it for my Just One today.
