Just One – Lucy – natural family photography in Suffolk

Today’s blog post features a shoot that took place back in November, which for me is the season of family group shots for Christmas cards. I always make sure that I capture some lovely family shots on all of my portrait photography shoots, but before Christmas, they become particularly important as so many of my clients like to send a picture of the children or a family shot out to their friends and loved ones. I love to oblige with a family photograph that really shows everyone at their best – a relaxed shot that captures all the relationships between family members and the spirit of the family. After all, each family is unique and their Christmas cards should reflect that.

I love this picture of Lucy, Richard and their family from our family photo shoot in Suffolk – it really captures their personalities, with Lucy and Richard looking so relaxed and happy in the middle, with lovely soft light on their faces. The children are so vibrant and full of personality, with Honor snuggled in with her face in the fur of Lucy’s hood, – always one with an eye for fashion, Honor had done the styling for the shoot – and Arthur laughing, relaxed and happy, leaning on his Dad’s shoulder and telling a tale, always talking, always with a story and a joke. I’m working on getting him to promise to take me to the Oscars when he wins Best Actor in years to come. I love how both children have their arms around their parents – ‘these are our mummy and daddy, the best mummy and daddy in the world!’

I also love the silvery autumn light in this picture, the soft light on the family’s faces and the beautiful rim light around their hair – I often shoot into the light as I love the effect it has on a picture, giving it this ethereal feel. Just beautiful.

I hope you enjoy this picture, my ‘Just One’ preview image from Lucy and Richard’s family and chidlren’s photography session in Suffolk.
