Just One – Tunbridge Wells children’s photographer

Today’s ‘Just One’ preview image is from a lovely children’s and family shoot which took place in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. I first met Tom years ago now, when Will was only two and I’ve been back a number of times since then – photographing the family as it grew with newborn shoots for his baby brothers, now so big and oh so much fun. I was so thrilled to go back and we had such a wonderful day.

This shot, which is a real favorite of mine from the day, was taken in our den. I love a bit of den-building and feel that, after ten years of photographing children, I am becoming a bit of an expert. Once we utilised a bit of string to join our trees and give a bit of structure, the boys really enjoyed collecting ferns to make a roof, building a door, making it comfortable with a blanket and all manner of den-building wonder – and this was before we went to the woods for additional wood, which I left for Will to extend the den with his friends in the afternoon – it’s not just a photo shoot, it’s activity ideas for the whole day!

I love the boys’ expressions, laughing their heads off at one of their parent’s jokes. Here they are so close together, which is lovely with children who are so often running off in different directions having adventures.
