Newborn Photography at Home in Islington | Relaxed Family Sessions
At home newborn photography in Islington
The diary has been very busy recently but I was thrilled to sneak in one extra session a couple of weeks ago when I was contacted to photograph this gorgeous newborn baby at home in Islington. I always like to fit in newborns when I can as the window is so short when they are tiny and those pictures are so precious to have. Often I’m booked months, even years in advance, and so booking something for the following day is a bit of a treat and what a treat this photo shoot turned out to be.
Why I love at home newborn photography in North London
I love to photograph newborns at their homes as there are two main reasons for this. Firstly it’s easier on new parents as they don’t have to get up and out in the morning or travel across London with their tiny baby. Instead they have everything they need to hand and we can keep everything really relaxed, working around their baby and their baby’s needs.
The second reason, and in many ways the most important one, is that having photographs taken in your own home means that the photographs will have so many memories attached to them. Where were you living when your baby was born? How did you decorate their nursery? How did you spend time in this space that is so uniquely you? These things will be so lovely to look back on whether you are in your forever home that your child will grow up in, or you are renting somewhere and you will be able to tell your child about it when they are older. It’s so nice to know that there will be memories of this special time in these beautiful pictures.
I loved hearing about the nursery on this photo shoot. It was a beautiful room with the most incredible feature wall, a stunning crib and a Japanese theme. I was told about a trip to Japan and time spent crafting in both origami and clay in later pregnancy. These memories will be brought to mind by the pictures we’ve created together and may spark conversations in the future. This is why I love this job, there are so many memories made and recorded in images to treasure.
Sleeping baby portraits at home
There is something so peaceful about a sleeping newborn, and these images are always so close to my heart and so popular with parents. Whether she’s snoozing happily on the bed or cradled in her parent’s arms these are stunning images to have. This beautiful Islington home was bathed in natural light making it a glorious space for newborn portraits and we got a real mix of different images within the home.
Tiny details in newborn photography
Detailed shots are always really popular from newborn photography sessions and I loved photographing this beautiful little girl’s tiny hands and feet. Newborn feet are so cute and the way they clasped together like tiny hands made for such a beautiful photo. It’s hard to think back to just how tiny these limbs are when babies are born and so having pictures to tell the story and to look back on is a joy. Tiny fingers holding a parent’s hand, tiny toes touching together, the detail of an eyelash, these are images to treasure and work so well in timeless black and white.
Outdoor newborn photography in Islington
Everyone was very keen to do some outdoor photographs as part of our newborn baby photo shoot in Islington. The family wanted to record their locality in some images, to remember where they lived when their baby was born and there was a great little park at the end of the road where we walked to for the second part of our photo shoot.
I love taking outdoor images on newborn photo shoots. There’s something about babies out in nature that really appeals to me and even in a very small park we can create a variety of different images.
Our little one was so sleepy by this stage she had a lovely time snoozing in the sunshine as we took our photographs. We even bumped into her little cousin which was a treat, what lucky little ones to live so close to each other, they are going to have such adventures as they grow up.
