A wonderful autumn newborn photography session in Muswell Hill
I spent a lovely morning recently photographing this lovely newborn baby boy and his family in Muswell Hill N10 in North London.
It’s great doing a photo shoot that is very local to me as I live in Crouch End and so it was just a quick trip up the road for our newborn photography session. It’s particularly lovely photographing really nice people near home as I know that, over the years and many more photo shoots to come, I will have made new friends as well as new clients. I’m so lucky with my job as a newborn photographer.

I spent a lovely morning recently photographing this lovely newborn baby boy and his family in Muswell Hill N10 in North London.

Photographing newborns in Alexandra Park
As the weather was absolutely beautiful the morning of our newborn photo shoot we headed straight out to Alexandra Park. Rain was forecast later in the day and we wanted to make the most of the wonderful winter sunshine.
It was perfect weather for photography and it was still really quite warm for the time of year so we were able to spend time exploring and finding some lovely spots including one with the iconic Alexandra Palace in the background.
I love knowing that in years to come, if the family have moved from the area they will be transported back by these photographs and if they are still living in Muswell Hill they will be able to talk to their son about his newborn photography session and all the fun they had together at the park.
Beautiful natural light for newborn portraits
The light really added to the atmosphere of the pictures, and it was worth braving a bracing wind to get some beautiful silhouette shots.
At home newborn photography in Muswell Hill
Mid-morning we headed home for a cup of coffee and to take some indoor pictures. It’s nice to mix up indoor and outdoor newborn photographs whatever the weather as they have such different feels and for tiny ones it’s lovely to have some pictures where they are less wrapped up and where we can see tiny hands and feet. Using window light for newborn photography
I always love to use the light I find in people’s homes and using window light in different ways is always a challenge. The little one’s bedroom has lovely sheer curtains which always make a fantastic backdrop for a family photo with a newborn and for the photograph which opens this blog post I used the dark sofa as a background for another window lit shot with a very different feel.
Newborn photos with parents
Of course portraits and pictures with parents are always so important on any newborn photography session and I like to use the details of the house to really get a sense of place in some of these.
We had a brilliant time from start to finish and I’m so thrilled with these images of a seven week old newborn baby photographed at home in Muswell Hill N10. I hope you have enjoyed them as much as I have.
