Second Birthday Party in Knightsbridge

It’s a huge privilege to be invited to share special days with my clients and I feel so lucky to have been asked to photograph a second birthday party following on from our wonderful photo shoots when he was newborn, his christening, and his first birthday. To be trusted to record these important moments is a very special thing indeed.

Starting with portraits and family photos

When I’m photographing parties then I like to make sure we have some time for family pictures at home first. Once we get to the venue then time flies by so quickly – guests arrive, there are people to talk to, things to do, and of course the children want to play

Taking some time at home first means we can take beautiful portraits which then compliment the party shots and add lovely variety to the album.

Starting at home also means we can take some pictures indoors – in this case opening some presents – the pensive look before we get started, and then excitement on opening toy cars, tennis rackets, and hoovers (kids do love a toy Dyson) are a joy to behold.

Outdoor pictures

We also managed a few outdoor pictures as part of our pre party photo shoot in the beautiful garden square. Shooting into the light for beautiful soft light on everyone’s faces and utilising the shady areas we were rewarded with these delightful portraits

We’ve taken pictures in this square on all our photo shoots so far and it’s lovely to see the changes from one shoot to the next as the little one grows up.

Second birthday party photos

The party had been planned by the amazing Sarah from Somewhere Over the Rainbow Events, my favourite children’s party planners and, as always, they have done an amazing job. We were also joined by entertainers from the Giggle Factory who were incredible.

With the most amazing selection of props and games they entertained adults and children alike and it was a very happy photographer who was able to join in the parachute game and balance a purple monkey or two on their head.

A brilliant time was had by all

Seeing families and friends who have been in his life since he was born was a particular joy and the wonderful relationship he has with his godmother is particularly special. Lucky people to have each other in their lives and lucky me to be asked to document it.

Finishing with cake, an outfit change, and a picture or two with his grandparents. A very tired and very happy two year old (and lets be honest a very tired photographer too) were ready for bed.

What a wonderful day all round. Thank you for including me in your family celebrations. I can’t wait for next year!
