Super Heroes, Water Fun, and Family Photos in Kensington W14

This was my third session with Martyn and his lovely family and it was wonderful to visit them again in Kensington for an extended family session. Our photo shoot was to mark Theo’s third birthday and everyone had gathered together including Martyn’s sister and mother who had made the journey from Wales. It was so lovely to see everyone again as we had last met at Theo’s first birthday party that had taken place in Holland Park.

I find it so interesting to watch children grow up into such incredible young people and Caitlin and Guy were so interesting to talk to. I loved hearing all about their what they were getting up to – A-levels, gap years and university – such an incredibly exciting time in their lives. The younger two Zak and Rhianna are always so much fun, I can always rely on Zak to enjoy whatever activity we are involved with and to light up a room with his infectious grin and I have a soft spot for Rhianna in her place as number 4 in the family, the same spot as me, I loved hearing about how much she is enjoying sports at the moment. And then little Theo, on his birthday, dressed as a super hero and clearly the centre of attention for everyone. Perfect!

It was a brilliant morning with a combination of formal group shots, individual portraits and pictures as everyone played together and enjoyed themselves. The only slight flaw in my idea of a game of hide and seek was just how competitive the children are and I soon realized that with that game we might never see any of them for the rest of the day.

We finished this fabulous morning with a water fight; some new water canons had recently been purchased and were Theo’s favourite thing. It was brilliant to see everyone enjoying the game together as hair was let down and the competitive spirit rose to the fore again – accompanied, as always, by love and laughter. It was the perfect way to end a perfect morning and I left the family tired, happy and in need of dry clothes. What a wonderful photo time we had and I can’t wait to see them again soon for another family photography session in Kensington.
