Wimbledon Common family photo shoot with teenagers

It’s always huge fun to photograph older children and teenagers, and I was thrilled when Graham arranged a shoot with me to photograph his family in Wimbledon, South West London Sw18.

Photographing older children is different to the little ones as everyone is more aware of the camera and so it’s really challenging to make everyone forget that they are having photographs taken and really enjoy their day, interacting with each other, laughing and joking and having a wonderful time.

I really like to focus family shoots with older children and teenagers around a walk and Wimbledon Common is such a great place for this – there is lots of space and it’s such a beautiful location. Also it isn’t very busy so there is no need to feel self-conscious – early on a Saturday morning, it was only us and the running clubs out and about and not really anyone else, just perfect.

We had such a lovely morning – it was fascinating talking to the children, who are such interesting and lively young people. It was interesting to hear about the different sports they played and their recent holidays as we walked around the woods, stopping where the light was great for family shots and capturing individual portraits and pictures of the family interacting and having fun along the way.
