Joyful family photo shoot in Southwark SE1

All the stars aligned for this wonderful family photo shoot in Borough and Bermondsey. It was a last-minute booking as some late space became available, and so I emailed my waiting list to see if anyone was free – the weather forecast was fantastic, and I didn’t want to let a sunny day go to waste.

I was absolutely thrilled to book in this family photography session in Borough and Bermondsey with some of my favourite clients.

We had been looking at a session a bit later in the year, but the opportunity was grabbed with both hands and resulted in this wonderful family photography session in Borough and Bermondsey, definitely one of my favourite sessions of the year so far.

Returning clients

We had first met back in 2021 when we did a baby photography session in Bermondsey SE1. A fabulous day with grandparents, where we started at home and then headed out to the park to create a lovely collection of wonderful images for everyone to enjoy.

I was thrilled that we were going to meet again, and even more thrilled to meet the newest member of the family who was just as cute as her big brother. It was a day full of joy with beautiful photographs to match.

Starting early with at home family photography in Bermondsey in Southwark

We started at home taking pictures of the wonderful and hilarious chaos of breakfast with small children. I love how so much happens at the breakfasting hour from eating to reading books, playing with toys, crawling around the floor, and general laughter and mayhem. In between bites of croissant we had an amazing time playing games and enjoying the fabulous light of the family room which was perfect for a portrait or two.

Then it was time to get dressed accompanied by playing the xylophone, jumping on the bed, medieval history in comic book form (yes, this ticked all my boxes with two degrees in medieval history to my name) and dancing to a wonderful playlist. What a fantastic way to start the day.

Heading out to the park

From here we headed out to Bermondsey Spa Gardens where the kids were keen to show me the playground but before we headed to the swings we took some time for family shots and pictures of the little ones playing together.

It was so much fun running around, watching the kids being thrown in the air and playing baseball. This was clearly the family game and both the children enjoyed playing with a bit of help from mum and dad.

Then we headed towards the swings and a quick drink at the cafe to regroup. On these hot days it’s important to stay fueled and little ones often need a top up of a snack and a drink, or even a quick nap, to keep the energy levels high.

A bite to eat at the family’s favourite restaurant

As everyone was getting hungry we decided on an early lunch before we finished the session with a few pictures in the garden at home. It’s always lovely when, on arriving at a restaurant, to find everyone being greeted by name with massive hugs. I know I’m going to have a fantastic lunch and be so well looked after – it was such a treat. The pasta was amazing, and the kids were clearly delighted with their favourite dishes. I love moments like this on family photo shoots, a little bit of the everyday recorded for the future in delightful pictures to raise a smile.

My sessions last a whole morning, but I don’t watch the clock. It’s always better to have an early lunch and finish the photos afterwards if we need extra energy. For me, it’s all about getting the very best pictures for my clients, and so there is never any rush.

Final shots in the garden

We finished with a few family photographs in the garden, the eldest had wanted to show me his amazing scooting skills, which I was very impressed by and the youngest was very proud of her zebra walker. It’s nice to mix things up, the big spaces to run around in at the park and pictures at home too. Both will be full of memories for the children as they grow up and will be so fun to look back on in the future.

This was an amazing family photo shoot in Borough and Bermondsey from start to finish, I’m already looking forward to the next one in a few years’ time.
