Baby and Family Photography in Victoria Park, East London
A fabulous morning in Victoria Park in Hackney hits the blog today and I hope you will enjoy looking at these baby and family photographs.
Rana had got in touch as she had seen her cousin’s beautiful photographs up on the wall from a session we had done together a couple of years ago. It was great, Rana booked in and within the week her lovely cousin organised a new session too. I got to see them both last summer and we had a brilliant time on both sessions. I love this about photography, I photograph one family member and then the word spreads and I meet friends and relations and get to know the whole family really well. It’s one of the very best things about this job, I feel very lucky.
We were also lucky with the weather for Rana’s photo shoot, a lovely warm day perfect for being out and about and Darius had a brilliant time exploring the park. I love seeing his early steps, held up by mum and dad and I know that by now, when I’m writing the full blog post, he will be steady on his feet, probably running around and getting into all sorts of mischief. The first few years really do fly by, it’s so lovely to capture these moments in photographs that will be kept and looked back on for so many years to come.
Victoria Park in Hackney is a fabulous place for a photo shoot, it’s a park I have only got to know in these last couple of years and it’s a wonderful spot. I do feel that we are lucky in London to have so many incredible parks. For those who haven’t been there, Victoria Park is huge and varied with so many different areas and different things to do. For older children it has some of the best adventure playgrounds and for adults they also do incredible coffee in the cafe by the lake, a perfect pit stop for us while Darius had a sleep in his buggy.
We had a great time and I loved how interested Darius was in everything we saw and all the games we played. His laugh is infectious and we all found ourselves laughing as we played peek-a-boo with a muslin, the old games are most definitely the best games.
When the morning drew to a close – we had rowed our boats, chased our pigeons, read our books, explored our pagoda, played peek-a-boo and hide and seek and enjoyed a wonderful time – we headed back to the flat for a couple more pictures before we finished. It’s nice to mix things up a bit in a session and particularly when photographing babies I like to do a bit of the session indoors as well as a bit outdoors where possible. This really adds to the variety of images I can give to my lovely clients.
Darius had a lovely time rolling around on the bed and laughing with Rana before we finished for the day leaving a tired and happy baby ready for his lunch and a nice long nap. It was a wonderful morning and I’m thrilled with the pictures. I do hope you enjoy them and please do get in touch if you would like to arrange your own baby or family photography session in Victoria Park or elsewhere in London, I’d love to hear from you.
