Baby photography in Blackheath, South London
Today on the blog I’m thrilled to share an extended selection of photographs from my wonderful baby and family portrait session with Helen and her lovely baby Ollie in Blackheath in South London.
We had such fun on our photo shoot, capturing pictures both indoors at home and out in the garden as we had such lovely weather. Where possible, I love to take pictures both inside and outside as this gives such great variety to the pictures. With little ones, we tend to do indoor and outdoor pictures either side of the morning nap so the babies are happy and relaxed all through the session, completely comfortable following their own routine and getting all the sleep and feeds that they require. A happy baby always leads to happy and relaxed parents too, and therefore brilliant baby and family photographs.
I love the photographs of baby Ollie taken indoors – the carpet in the living room worked really well as an interesting backdrop to the images, and the fireplace provided a brilliant frame for Ollie. I love to use elements of a family’s home to frame my images as it adds a lovely anchor to memories – in this case, the front room at Granny and Grandpa’s house in Blackheath where we took the pictures. I know I remember so many little details from my own grandparents’ homes and I’m sure Ollie will grow-up remembering these sofas, that carpet, the ornaments on the mantlepiece and all the other little things that a child remembers playing with, crawling round and hiding under. It’s lovely to have a visual reminder of these things.
We had beautiful light when we headed outdoors, too – Helen’s parents garden has some lovely shaded spots which I used for family photographs, as well as some lovely mother and baby portrait pictures, action shots of Stephen with Ollie for some Daddy and son portraits, and also some lovely portraits of Ollie lying on the grass – including the wonderfully inquisitive portrait that I featured in my Just One preview from our morning together.
I’m thrilled with the pictures and I hope you will enjoy them, too. I can’t wait to visit the family again later in the summer to see how much Ollie has grown, and also catch-up with his older brothers to capture some more family photographs at Granny and Grandpa’s home in Blackheath.
If you live in London or further afield and would like to me to visit you at home to capture some portrait photographs of your baby, toddlers, children and family, then do contact us – we would love to hear from you.
