Baby photography in Little Venice London

I was thrilled to spend a morning with this lovely family in London’s beautiful Little Venice area in Maida Vale taking baby and family photographs.

I was so pleased to book this shoot as the little one was nine months old, my favourite age for baby photography and Little Venice is such a beautiful area too, with lots of opportunities for stunning portrait photographs.

We had a wonderful time, a lovely, relaxed morning getting out and about early to get the best light and then playing at home. We finished at lunchtime when the little one went to sleep, it was such great fun.

As the weather was beautiful when I arrived in Little Venice for our baby photography session we decided to head straight out after a quick cup of coffee. We wanted to make use of the wonderful light and beat the crowds which can build up on a beautiful day.

We were rewarded with empty streets and that amazing feeling of tranquillity that London has early on a weekend morning, the occasional dog walker and a few runners being our only company as we explored.

We started by the Little Venice canal where the family love to walk and it was such fun to take pictures that include this picturesque setting.

From the canal we ventured to the park for a play on the swings which the little one loved and some more pictures that really made use of the wonderful autumn light. This time of year is a favourite among photographers for the low sunlight which is fantastic to work with creatively. The picture that starts this blog is a real favourite, shooting into the light to create some flare and a wonderful emotive feel to the image.

As a short nap was in order, we took the scenic route home via a coffee stop for the adults and so by the time we got back to the beautiful Maida Vale flat the little one was awake again and ready to play. We enjoyed some time where she could roll around on her parent’s bed, playing with her parents and her dog to create some beautiful images for the family to treasure. The peaceful cuddle shot is a real favourite, that’s love in a nutshell.

Nine months is the perfect age for photographing babies as they are so inquisitive and such fun when they are on the move. We took some pictures in the living room so the little one could crawl around, and it was hilarious taking photographs before she crawled right up to the camera and began to crawl up me, I think I made a wonderful climbing frame!

I like to create variety in my photo shoots from images show scale like the lovely shot of her crawling through the door to show how little she is, and the stunning detail of her eyelashes. It’s so fun to be creative and to provide my clients with wonderful baby photographs to treasure.

This was a wonderful session, a real joy from start to finish photographing this baby and family in Little Venice and Maida Vale and I’m so thrilled with the pictures.
