Baby Photography in Queens Park, London

A wonderful morning taking baby photographs in Queens Park in London

I often think I have the best job in the world, in fact, I know I do. Not only do I get to take photographs for a living, which gives me creative joy on a daily basis, but I also get to meet such wonderful people. It’s amazing to be in a position where I am invited into people’s lives, get to see their relationships with their children – the most important people in their world – and create images that will be part of the memories they will share in the future. It’s an incredible privilege and I feel lucky every day.

I was thinking about this as I travelled home from my photo shoot with Zoe and Clayton taking baby photography in Queens Park. I had had such a wonderful morning and was thinking how incredible it is that I have such fun at work. We’d had a brilliant time.

Clayton was a joy; falling asleep for a brief catnap almost as soon as I arrived, he gave me time for a cup of coffee. Then he was awake, and raring to go, for the whole morning. He was full of energy, lighting up the day with his incredible smile.

We started our morning with a trip to nearby Queens Park which I am growing increasingly fond of as I visit more often for baby or family photography sessions. It’s got so many lovely spots for pictures and a huge amount of variety in such a small space. We found some beautiful locations, sitting on the grass, exploring under the trees and also having a brilliant time in the playground, the shots of Clayton laughing away on the swing are just delightful.

Then it was back home for the second part of our session. I like to do some pictures indoors and some outside when photographing the little ones as. Particularly with babies it’s really nice to have some shots where they can roll around on the bed all snuggly and warm. Outside, looking cool in jeans and a shirt, Clayton looked much older than in the indoor pictures where he is just wearing in his vest. This variety will be so lovely for Zoe when she chooses her pictures each bit of the shoot will capture a different element of their lives together.

Choosing a sneak preview has been difficult but this shot really caught my eye as I love everything about it.  I love the look of pure joy on both Zoe and Clayton’s faces and their squishy noses as Clayton snuggles so close to his mummy. I adore Clayton’s pointed toe which seems to be curled up in happiness and Zoe’s huge smile which is love in its purest form.

I also love the composition, framed by the trees and utilising a wide aperture to get a lovely feeling of depth – f2 on the wonderful new 85mm 1.4L canon lens.  The trees add interest and also context to the image, Queens Park, where they go regularly, a perfect location for this baby photograph that I hope will bring back so many memories of this special time when Zoe and Clayton look back on it in the future.

I hope you like it as much as I do and I look forward to sharing some more pictures from this wonderful session soon.  For more information about my baby photography do take a look at the website.
