Creative baby and family photography in Knightsbridge, Central London W1H
As a London-based baby, children and family photographer, I spend a lot of my time in the London borough of Kensington and Chelsea, particularly in and around Knightsbridge, one of London’s most beautiful areas and a particular favourite location of mine for family photo shoots.
I was thrilled to visit Ariel at their Knightsbridge home to capture some baby and family photographs before the family leaves London to move to New York.
We had the most lovely time photographing baby Clio, who was such a delight to photograph. We started our morning at home – it was a grey day, but it was brightened immediately by Clio’s wonderful big smile. We took pictures on Ariel and Peter’s bed – I often photograph babies on their parents’ bed as they have space to roll around, and by lifting them off the floor, we get really lovely light from the bedroom windows. A light-coloured duvet cover or blanket acts as a reflector here, providing such beautiful light onto Clio’s face.
We also took some pictures of Clio sitting in her Bumbo Chair. These are great props on a photo shoot if your baby is not quite able to sit-up yet, as they give a really good stable platform for your baby to sit without having lots of cushions propping them up. It’s great for lovely head and shoulders shots and I’m absolutely thrilled with the close-up picture of Clio laughing her head off – it’s such a a wonderful moment with her gummy mouth yet to grow her first teeth. It really is one of the magical things about my job, how I am priviledged to capture such fleeting moments; by the time this blogpost is published, Clio may well have bottom teeth and yet we have this picture to remind us of the time before and make us smile for years to come.
After some more playing and Clio’s morning nap, we headed outdoors to visit Hyde Park in Knightsbridge for some outdoor family photography. The day had brightened a bit and we had beautiful soft light, a lovely autumnal day. I love the shots taken through the grasses which give a lovely element of depth to the pictures. We found some wonderful deckchairs, clearly still out at the end of the season and they provided such a fun setting for a few more pictures – Clio was so proud of herself sitting in one alone.
Then for a walk along the Serpentine, taking more family pictures as Ariel and Peter played with Clio and she enjoyed a very typical morning’s walk visiting the ducks. It’s wonderful to visit the places that families go regularly during the photo shoots, in this case Hyde Park where Clio has her daily walk. These pictures will mean so much as she gets older and the family can look back together and remember so many lovely days exploring Kensington and Chelsea in Central London.
I do hope you enjoy looking at this selection of baby and family photographs, I had a wonderful time taking them.
