It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

A fun-filled Christmas photo shoot

It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas. Here at Helen Bartlett Photography HQ I’m drowning in packaging and keep finding ‘Photographs – Do Not Bend’ stickers in my hair.  My wonderful DPD driver, Marinel, and I chat daily about the number of boxes going in and out and we’ve become the postal depot for the street as we take in deliveries for our neighbours as all the couriers know there’s always someone in.  It’s fun, I love the hustle and bustle of these last weeks.

I’m also still shooting although the pictures I’m taking now will be viewed after Christmas.  I have one more shoot next week to go and then I’ll be back, camera in hand for my first newborn shoot of the year on 7thJanuary.  It’s so lovely to be so busy and I feel very lucky to have such wonderful clients.

I had an absolutely amazing day with one of my favourite families recently for a Christmas themed photo shoot.  It’s such fun to think of different ideas and activities to do with the children from water play in the summer to tree decoration in December, every month offers such a wide variety of ideas and opportunities.

We started our day with some tree decoration.  I have such lovely memories of that activity as a child and it’s still something I look forward to each year – deciding what should go where and mixing up tasteful decorations with the hilarious and the hand made.  Jennifer and Carlos had a lot of mini-photo frame decorations which I hadn’t really seen before and inspired me to go out and get some for our tree at home.

The kids, of course, loved it as much as the adults.  Carefully carrying decorations across the room and then deciding exactly where they should be placed.  Not to be put off by the height of the tree the children enlisted the help of their parents to get the top ones in place.  It was such brilliant fun and processing the pictures this week has definitely put me firmly in the Christmas mood.

I hope you are enjoying the run up to Christmas – from the chaotic cuteness of children’s school plays to the pride in watching the accomplishments at the school concerts and the fun of choosing presents.  It’s not long now before we will be relaxing with a few days off, sharing the days between Christmas and New Year with loved ones and looking forward to a happy and successful 2019.
