Family Photo Shoot in Spain

An overseas adventure for our summer photo shoot

This family photo shoot in Spain was an absolute joy, a real high point of my year. I love how the summer sees me getting out of London and photographing families all over the UK and increasingly all over the world.

When this family, who I first met for a wonderful photo shoot in South London back in 2021 contacted me and suggested a trip to Spain in the summer I jumped at the opportunity. It’s so nice to go somewhere different, to see a different sky, and for the family to create some really wonderful memories to treasure.

The alarm went off bright and early, especially considering the time difference, but was worth it as we hit the beach by 7am. We were rewarded by empty sands and the most glorious light as the sun slowly rose in the sky.

The kids thought it was fantastic, leaping into the sea and jumping the waves before making a giant, sandcastle and, that favourite activity of children everywhere, digging a massive hole!

I was in my element, soaked to the waist trying to keep my camera dry and sand free as I jumped the surf. It was absolutely joyous, I couldn’t have had a better start to a day.

Old Town

By 9ish everyone was getting peckish so a quick change of clothes for those who had been sensible (and a slightly damp photographer who hadn’t been) we headed into the old town for a bit of a wander around, and a much-needed coffee.

It was beautiful, quiet streets, whitewashed buildings, glorious light and incredible decorations that made for atmospheric pictures.

Back Home for some quiet time

An action-packed morning meant everyone was getting quite tired and we decided that the best plan was to get home, have a shower and head for an early lunch. This way we would have time and, most importantly energy, for some more pictures in the afternoon before my flight home. Often the best plan is to break and have some food and carry on when everyone has been reenergised rather than push on when kids are tired. This way we had the most incredible afternoon

Football

After lunch we were straight into football. There was a fantastic lawn that looked as if it had been designed especially with ball games in mind. The boys showed some fantastic skills and I had a lovely time taking photographs as they showed off their technique.

Swimming

We finished with some pictures in the swimming pool which, as regular readers know, is one of my favourite activities on a family photo shoot.

Starting with action shots of jumping in I then moved on to the underwater pictures. Using my Ewa-Marine bag which I absolutely love I was able to take some really fun pictures .

Plan your photo shoot now

It was an incredible day and I was exhausted by the time I caught my plane that evening. This family photo shoot in Spain has been one of the highpoints of my year and I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph these wonderful boys as they enjoyed their holiday.

If you would like to book a family photo shoot this autumn, then do get in touch via the contact form. There is still a small amount of London availability before the Christmas deadlines.
