Family Photographer Clapham SW4

Clapham Common family portraits

It’s always lovely to visit Clapham for a family portrait shoot. Back when I started my baby and family photography business twenty years ago Clapham was one of my most frequent locations for my photography sessions and I fell in love with its laid-back vibe, the beautiful common, and the stunning houses. Over the years the areas I’ve covered have expanded, not least as I have moved from south of the river to my home in North London and I’ve ventured back less frequently. It was such a treat to return, and it’s reminded me why I love Clapham so much. I hope that 2024 will bring me many more family photography sessions in Clapham like this one, we had such a great time.

Winter sunshine

It was a stunning day for our photo shoot and the low winter sunshine was glorious as we headed out to Clapham Common for our portrait photography shoot. The girls were so beautifully dressed, and I loved their gorgeous coats, completely timeless and so elegant. I particularly loved the fact they were accessorised with wellies in one of my favourite fashion combinations (I’m also a big fan of the party dress and wellies look).

We started with a bit of running around to warm up and the girls loved being chased by their parents, roaring with laughter at the monsters.

The bandstand on Clapham Common

As it was a bit slippery – the recent rain has made such a difference underfoot this last couple of weeks – we headed to the bandstand to play before taking a break for a quick cup of coffee and a juice for the girls. It’s always good to keep fuelled when we are out and about.

The playground

Then it was off to the playground because isn’t that every child’s favourite place to play? We were lucky enough to find it relatively empty – the benefit of one of the weekends of half-term, London is certainly quieter on the week of the autumn break. The light in the playground was lovely and perfect for our pictures.

Home for some indoor shots

Then we headed home for some pictures inside which is something I always love to do and is particularly good at this time of year when, even with lots of running around, it does get a bit cold outside after a while.

A snack and a drink and suddenly energy levels were tip top, and we were ready to play.

Hide and Seek

Hide and seek is always one of my favourite games to play and the girls had a brilliant time hiding behind the curtains and, in a superb bit of hiding, under the shelves. These are some of my favourites from the day.

And then we, read some books, did some dancing, just chilled out for some lovely and happy indoor pictures that really capture the girl’s personalities and the fun loving vibe of this wonderful family.

It was such a fun shoot and I’m absolutely thrilled with the pictures, there are so many that I love. I can’t wait to put together some ideas for the family for ways to display them in an album or some frames for the wall, or both, as after all photographs are one of the few things we buy that get more and more important as time goes on, and which will bring so much joy now and as the years go by. I love the idea of the girls looking back on these in the future and laughing happily at the joyful time they had together as children.
