Family Photography in Angmering

It felt like the last day of summer for my fantastic family photography session in Angmering on the South Coast. This was my fifth shoot with Katie and her wonderful family but my first extended family session with her husband’s brother and sister, and their children, as well as the grandparents. It was loads of people and loads of fun. I’ve always really enjoyed big extended family sessions, they are marvellous, chaotic, and always result in a wonderful and varied set of pictures as, over the course of a morning I make sure to get shots that everyone will love from large family groups with everyone in, to the action shots of the kids which are always so special.

Our family photo shoot was part of a celebratory weekend, and it was wonderful to be welcomed as part of the family and get to enjoy this special day. An incredibly seaside house had been hired and lunch laid on by the talented @sarahrachelbakes (who I highly recommend if you are looking for a private chef for an event like this). It was a wonderful location and right on the beach.

We started nice and early to make the most of the day and began with some family pictures on the beach before the light got too difficult to work with, large groups in direct sunlight with no shade is always a challenge for us photographers, give us a grey day on the beach every time. But we had the sun, and it was fantastic, raising the spirits and putting everyone in a fantastic mood.

Katie had done some research though and found a brilliant local park that had some lovely shady spots so we headed there for part of the morning. Its lovely when family photo shoots have a variety of locations as we get more variety to the pictures, and it keep things fun and interesting. The park was fantastic with so many fabulous opportunities.

And then back to the beach house before lunch and it was warm enough for a dip in the sea. I had miscalculated my packing bringing fur-lined boots and full waterproofs.  I ended up borrowing shorts and wading waist deep in the warm sea to take pictures as the children played in the surf. Truly it was the most wonderful way to celebrate the summer and the most wonderful way to celebrate with this lovey family.
