A Wonderful Day and a Beautiful Christening
I feel so lucky to have been invited to photograph this wonderful Christening and to have been part of this special day that was filled with joy and celebration. I was thrilled to meet this lovely family back in October when we did a newborn photography session and so I was really looking forward to seeing them again on such an important occasion as we celebrated Constantin’s Christening. It’s one of the real joys of my job – to see families again and again and to watch the children grow, but also to meet their wider family and friends and to see the circles of love that surround them. At the christening I got to meet grandparents and godparents, and see some of my regular clients again as they are great friends of the family. It was a truly special day and I’m thrilled to share a few images as a sneak preview today.
Our day started at home with a few pictures as everyone got ready and before we left for the church. It’s always nice to have a few pictures at home on such a busy day as you never know how things will go. I love the huge grin that Constantin gives on his family shot, snuggled with his mum and looking so grown-up since our last meeting. His christening robes were stunning with such beautiful details including some adorable little lace socks that were incredibly cute.
Reception at the Stunning Mandarin Oriental Hotel
From the house we travelled to the majestic Ukranian Catholic Cathedral on Duke Street, a stunning building that I had never been to before. The interior was beautiful, and I felt so lucky to be able to access the balcony for a really wonderful view down onto the ceremony which really captured the atmosphere. Covid restrictions required masks, but you can see the love in everyone’s eyes as they look at Constantin and welcome him into the Church.
From the Church we travelled to the stunning Mandarin Oriental hotel for a reception in the beautiful Loggia Room where mellow jazz was provided by a talented saxophonist to Constantin’s evident delight – I can see a new spotify playlist being compiled for the nursery at home. The adults enjoyed a delicious high tea while the children were entertained by George from the brilliant Tarka London, I’d not seen their wonderful entertainers before, but I was so impressed. The kids had a lovely time.
Tetiana’s speech to her family and friends was incredibly moving, the love in the room was so evident – close friends and dear family, the people who will love and support Constantin throughout his life offering spiritual and moral guidance alongside fun, laughter, and joy. He’s a lucky boy to be surrounded by such an incredible group of people who clearly care so deeply for him. I felt privileged to witness such a special day and record it in photographs that will, I’m sure, be treasured for ever. Thank you Tetiana for inviting me to share this special day with you, I hope you enjoy the pictures.
