London Landmarks Photo Shoot

London Vacation Photography

In the years before the pandemic meeting clients to take family photographs that include London landmarks was a big part of the business – families on vacation in London would book a morning’s session and we would sight see and take photographs together. Then, with travel restricted those sessions disappeared, I’m so glad that they are now back, they are such good fun.  This session wasn’t the normal family vacation photo shoot in London as this family weren’t on holiday, but it had many of the same elements as they wanted to get a real feel for London in their pictures before returning home to Singapore after a year studying and working in London.  I was thrilled to oblige and we had a brilliant time together on our family photo shoot.

We started early which is essential to beat the crowds around some of London’s biggest sites and also to get out and about before the light got too harsh. It was a bright sunny day and that’s always challenging but also results in lovely pictures as a sunny day always puts everyone in a fantastic mood.

Great locations for London photo shoot

Starting on the Southbank we wandered along to take some pictures with Big Ben in the background, lovely to have that iconic London building without it’s scaffolding on again.  The Southbank is a great spot as we can look across the river but also take in the London Eye and, for the kids, there’s also that brilliant little playground which is often deserted at 8am.  Fun was had climbing and sliding and playing peek-a-boo.

Then we decided to change locations and we walked across the river heading for St James’s Park via Trafalgar Square.

Parks and playgrounds for added fun

The Park was blissfully shaded as it was getting really hot and gave us a chance to settle and play for a bit. Again, the morning slot meant it wasn’t very busy and so we could run around, pick daisies, investigate the deck chairs, and have fun without finding lots of people in the backgrounds of our pictures. London’s parks are at their best in the mornings and I love to incorporate these wonderful green spaces into my London family vacation photo shoots.

We finished with another playground as who doesn’t love a playground and a swing and a see-saw will often give us that last few pictures of a tired little one.  It was such fun and then, by the time we had begun to head back towards the Tube the little one was asleep and my work was done. I love seeing a tired and happy toddler at the end of a wonderful and joyful photo shoot, I know we have had a great morning.
