Summer family photography in Greenwich Park

I combined some of my favourite people with one of my favourite places for this photo shoot which I’m sharing today, a wonderful family portrait photography session in Greenwich Park in South East London.

I’ve been photographing this wonderful family for six years now and our annual photo shoots are one of the high points of my year, we always have such a brilliant time together.

Last year we’d been chatting about our favourite places, and it turned out we are all huge fans of Greenwich Park so we decided it would be a great place to meet for our pictures this year.

I’ve always loved Greenwich Park as it’s the park I went to as a child. I think we all have a special place in our hearts for our childhood stomping grounds. There are so many joyful memories for me in Greenwich Park and I regaled my clients with tales of the skateboard ramp which had gone down the big hill in the 1980s but now seems to have completely disappeared from memory – and even the internet which is strange – but it did exist, I have pictures of me as a child to prove it!

Greenwich Park is a brilliant location for family pictures with so much to see and do. From the wonderful trees in the flower garden to the beautiful bandstand, and, of course, the massive hill to run down. There’s also the wonderful Maritime Museum buildings which make a beautiful backdrop to some pictures of the family playing together.

Of course, kids being kids then the playground was very high on the list of things we absolutely had to do and we timed it perfectly to have it pretty much to ourselves for half an hour before, what felt like half of London, appeared to play.

We had a great time doing some climbing and playing on the boats enjoying a piratical adventure on the high seas. Then, as the playground filled up, we headed out for a sandwich in the sunshine to regain our strength.

We finished with a spin around the lake in the paddle boats, keeping to our piratical theme which was clearly the kids favourite thing of the moment. Tired at the end of a busy morning they enjoyed the adventure while I skipped from shore to boat to maximise the opportunities for pictures.

It was a brilliant day from start to finish and we all had a wonderful time. I’m already looking forward to next year’s photo shoot.  Until then, I hope you all enjoy these pictures from my family photo shoot in Greenwich park.
