Summer Photos in Highgate and Hampstead
Our Sixth annual photo shoot
There are some sessions I look forward to all year, and my annual photo shoot with this wonderful family in Hampstead and Highgate is one of them, we always have such a great time.
I first met the family back in 2016 when we got together to take some pictures of their two elder daughters in their beautiful Highgate home. Since then, I’ve been back eveyr year, I had the pleasure of meeting a new member of the family when the youngest was born, and I’ve watched all three children grow into such lovely children.
It’s such a pleasure to record their childhood in beautiful pictures that will stand the test of time, images they will be able to look back on as adults and think back to the amazing adventures they all had together and all the fun, laughter, and love that is family life.
Bright early starts on Hampstead Heath
We always start our family photo shoots early to beat the crowds and to find a parking space near Hamstead Heath which is such a popular destination for Londoners in the summer.
We headed out to explore finding places to play along the way.
I love how children find things to do everywhere from trees to climb and dens to build to great games like ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’. It wasn’t long before we were all running around and laughing together.
Portraits and action shots
When I’m working as a family photographer, I’m always looking for a beautiful variety of images for my clients, from stunning portraits to group pictures and action shots as everyone plays together. Different types of pictures have different things to say to us as we look at them and capture different moods and emotions.
One of the best things about having longer sessions is we have plenty of time to really see the children’s personalities shine through in the images. Everyone has their moment in the sun over a few hours where we can enjoy everything from a quiet snuggle with a parent to a boisterous game with siblings.
Back home for indoor games
Back at the house for a snack we played some indoor games, the girls had a lovely blanket that was wonderful for creating a nest and warming up after getting a little damp on the heath – 2024 has been the year of the summer downpour.
I like indoor images as they hold so many memories – the places everyone liked to play and the games that are oft the moment each year.
Garden games
Out in the garden we finished with some outdoor activities. Running, jumping, archery, even riding a bike. There’s so much we can do in a small space and children always find the fun in everything on offer.
It was an action paced day and I’m thrilled with the images. I’m already looking forward to our next year’s family photo shoot in Hampstead and Highgate. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy looking at this selection of some of my favourite images.
