Family Photo Shoot in Wiltshire
The blog has been quiet recently as I’ve been busy with Christmas photography, processing images, and getting all the prints and albums ready for Christmas so apologies to regular readers for radio silence. I’ll remedy the backlog over the next few weeks and I’m already looking forward to sharing so many lovely sessions from all over the UK, and even a wonderful one in Barcelona!
To start with though, a brilliant session from the summer in the Wiltshire.
Regular photography sessions with wonderful results
There are some sessions that I know in advance will be high points of my year and my bi-annual photos with this fantastic family are on that list. We always have the most incredible time, and I always take pictures that I adore.
The two girls have always been a dream to photograph and having parents who have given some thought to activities always really helps. It’s a joy to arrive and discover an array of exciting things planned – from tennis and pickleball to chess and gymnastics. There’s always wonderful variety and that results in amazing pictures to treasure.
Family group photos
We started with some more formal family shots utilizing some of the incredible house and stunning garden. It’s nice always good to get beautiful group shots as these are a wonderful way to track the changes over the years.
The rabbits joined us and then the dog too making a family shot to make everyone smile every time they look at it.
Gymnastics and tennis
From more formal family shots we moved onto so action pictures with gymnastics and tennis. As the Olympics came to a close on the day of our photo shoot, I had to pay homage to the incredible sports photography I’ve been seeing these past few weeks.
Sports` photography is a huge influence on me, the extraordinary technical skills of photographers but also the way they experiment with different techniques, there’s so much to learn and I really enjoyed playing with multiple exposures on this family photo shoot to create some stunning and totally unique family portrait pictures.
Experimenting is so important for me as a photographer, it’s how I drive my work forward and create images that surpass my client’s expectations year on year on year
A game of tennis provided me with some more incredible opportunities and the athletic skills on show were fantastic. This is a sport that is taken seriously by the girls and I’m looking forward to seeing how they have improved when our next photo shoot takes place in two years’ time.
Underwater photos and fun in the swimming pool
After lunch we took some pictures for the family Christmas card (no spoilers here) and then headed to the pool for some swimming shots. I always enjoy using my Ewa-Marine case – a glorified sandwich bag – it’s a terrifying experience every time when I trust my camera to its care, and it’s a tricky piece of kit to use. But when it works it’s fantastic and it’s so fun to add some underwater images to the mix
The Lady in the Lake
Our last stop on the way to a hot shower was the garden pond for a few images that made the most of the weird reflections in the black lining. I love how ponds of this style have such amazing reflections but also the way the water ripples created some lovely patterns. To really emphasis the serenity of the spot I chose to work with a very slow shutter speed creating a shift movement on the water and an ethereal feel, all we needed was Excalibur to make the picture complete.
This was one of those photo shoots with so many wonderful opportunities and resulting in such a great set of images. I’m thrilled with them and have loved putting the album together for the family to enjoy at Christmas.
I hope you will like what you have seen here today. If you would like to book your own photo shoot for 2025 then do get in touch. I’d love to meet you and your family and create some amazing images together.
