Helen Bartlett is an outstanding photographer who gets the best out of both parents and children – which is a rare talent! Her eye is exceptional and she is also extraordinarily fun and intelligent.
We are keen to capture our sons’ childhood as it is passing so quickly so we ask Helen to shoot for us four times a year. The boys cannot wait for her next visit. Her exquisite photographs have an amazing painterly quality with a wonderful use both of natural light and of any surroundings in which she finds herself.
Helen is also lovely to have around, and slots into the family as if she has never been away. She is always energetic, optimistic and a warm and happy presence – she will gauge a child’s mood instantly and knows exactly how and when to get the best from a shoot.

Working with Helen has been wonderful and we could not have asked for a better photographer
We recently had the pleasure of working with Helen on a Newborn Photoshoot for our daughter Milli (three weeks old at the time).
Our goal was to find a photographer that captures “timeless” moments in a day of our lives without involving any fancy carrot or pumpkin outfits.
We both love photography and Helen’s work stood out as she takes her pictures exclusively in black & white and has been awarded a Canon ambassador for her work in the Newborn/Family Photography category.
From booking our shoot to Helen arriving at our doorstep, the communication has been flawless. We were able to share some ideas around the types of images we were after and Helen took into account the things we dislike (double chins etc.).
The shoot
Helen arrived super early, at 8.45 as we had planned, and we got started more or less straight away while we were chatting in the kitchen, making coffees. We let her guide us through the rooms with the best light and carried on with our day, sometimes forgetting that Helen was around. During the final hours of the shoot, we made it outside for a change of scenery where we mastered the wind and rain for a new perspective of Milli in her pram suit and us with wind-swept hair. We wrapped up around 4pm exhausted and excited.
The end results
A couple of days after the shoot Helen kindly shared an initial preview of our pictures on her blog which we absolutely loved. These pictures plus others formed part of a beautiful photography book we worked on together and we cannot wait to show Milli as she gets older.

Fantastically friendly and professional
Helen undertook the challenge of a Covid Safe newborn shoot for us in May 2021, was fantastically friendly and professional, and made the shoot fun and relaxing for all three humans, and both cats! The photos that Helen took, and the presentation were wonderful. I cannot recommend Helen highly enough!

I cannot recommend Helen more enthusiastically.
The results of our family photography session with her took my breath away. Each image is a work of art in itself which we will cherish for years to come. The photos she took of our two children beautifully depict each of their little characters – she has a way of capturing the precise moment. I was a bit worried as my three year old is very shy with strangers, but Helen knew exactly how to connect with him and put him at ease to get amazing results. She has a brilliant way with people of all ages. Not only is Helen an incredible artist, she wins the Oscar for customer service. She immediately made us feel relaxed and comfortable, and engaged our daughter so naturally that the whole experience felt like a treat. She took the most wonderful photos
Helen visited us in our home when our new baby was one week old. She took the most wonderful photos – newborn photos, photos of our 2 older children, family shots, and even included our 6 month old puppy. It was a lovely experience and we never felt pressured or stressed. Her style is relaxed and none of the photos are posed or forced. She captures your family just being natural. We now have a lovely family album and several framed photographs for the wall. We will definitely ask Helen to come back again.

Helen is a really talented photographer and an absolute pleasure to work with. We could already see the very high quality of her work on her website and social media prior to booking, and the pictures she took with our 8 month old daughter did not disappoint and we are absolutely thrilled with the end results. The whole process went smoothly – from the initial booking through to our viewing session a few weeks after the shoot with Helen’s colleague Andrea (which was all very relaxed). Helen is an excellent photographer
Helen has been photographing our family every year since our daughter was born 12 years ago, and now have a great record of our growing and changing family. Not only is Helen an excellent photographer who takes great shots of all the family, she also manages to do this in a relaxed and fun way. It is no mean feat keeping young children entertained and happy for a half day photo shoot, but my children love when we’ve got a shot coming up. The only problem is narrowing down our favourite shots to a manageable number every year!
