Maternity photo shoot in Highgate, North London
I spent the most wonderful morning recently in beautiful Highgate in North London photographing this maternity photo shoot. It was such good fun and I’m thrilled with the results, and it’s lovely to be sharing a few favourites here on the blog today.
This was my second session with this lovely family, our first one being in January of 2025, and as I type this blog post I’m also processing my third session, a newborn photo shoot which I’ll share some favourites from soon.
This is the best part of my job, regular sessions with wonderful clients, being there for these amazing moments in their lives and recording their family journey in photographs to look back on with such joy.
It was a wonderful morning for maternity photography at home and in Highgate Wood.
Maternity photography with a toddler
We started the maternity photo shoot at home in Highgate so we could take some pictures with the baby’s older brother before he headed off to nursery. Starting bright and early at 8am meant we could fit in some lovely photographs before the day really got going.
It was such a joy to see this cheerful little chap again, I’d loved our January session last year, and I was thrilled to hear he was still into Knights. I love a tale of King Arthur.
We took some beautiful pictures and then walked him to school.
Highgate Wood maternity photo shoot
After dropping off the eldest we headed to Highgate Wood, which is one of my favourite places in North London. Local to me, this is somewhere I walk and run often and know well, and it was such fun to explore it with fresh eyes while planning this maternity photo shoot.
The weather was still quite warm that morning and we enjoyed finding different backdrops and creating a relaxed set of maternity photographs in the woods.
At home maternity photos in Highgate
From the woods we headed back home for some more maternity photos. The early part of the morning had been full of the energy of a boisterous toddler, and this second part felt quieter and calmer, with space to focus on the excitement of preparing for a new baby.
